Workshop 2: Solving the GIS Puzzle in NG9-1-1

WI is gearing up for NG9-1-1, and there's a heavy lift around public safety-grade GIS data readiness.
But what exactly does that mean? Is it as simple as having the NENA required layers and a certain schema?

No. Having the required layers and correct schema are just a part of the puzzle. The real challenge with GIS data for NG9-1-1 is not identifying the required layers, but preparing those data layers to support their new function in 9-1-1. Crucial to this process is establishing an order of operations for understanding and identifying data completeness with a goal of achieving data readiness.

This workshop is going to cover the nuts and bolts of GIS data in NG9-1-1. We'll discuss the impacts of GIS on NG9-1-1 and the functions that rely on your data. And then, we're getting in the weeds by discussing the value of validations, identifying GIS anomalies that might interfere with NG9-1-1 functions, and what are the best practices for data remediation.
